The city explained that following the selection of Changjeon-dong Oncheon Park for this year's public contest project, which was developed into a barrier-free sharing path, Jinam Park has also been selected as a target site, enabling the creation of a barrier-free park in the southern region's center.

This public contest project, hosted by the Korea Forest Welfare Institute under the Korea Forest Service, is funded by lottery proceeds and other sources to protect the forest environment and enhance forest functions. In addition to the green fund secured this time, the city plans to invest 400 million KRW of its own funds, spending a total of 800 million KRW to implement the 'Forest Welfare Urban Forest Barrier-Free Environment Creation Project' at Jinam Park.

'Forest Welfare Urban Forest Barrier-Free Environment Creation' aims to minimize forest damage and disaster risks while removing walking obstacles in existing parks for pedestrians with disabilities, the elderly, and other mobility-challenged individuals, thereby supporting safe urban forest experience activities. The city plans to apply Universal Design (UD) to Jinam Park and carry out convenience improvement work at the Barrier-Free (BF) living environment level.

Kim Kyung-hee, Mayor of Icheon City, said, "We will create a barrier-free environment in Jinam Park to provide a new resting place for pedestrians with mobility challenges," adding, "We will continue to accelerate the creation of an eco-friendly green city, one of the policy tasks of the 8th term of the elected administration."
