Gwangsan-gu in Gwangju has received the 'Grand Prize' in this year's waste battery recycling performance evaluation.
According to Gwangsan-gu on the 23rd, Gwangju City has been evaluating the improvement of collection systems and performance of five autonomous districts over the past year to promote the safe disposal and separate collection of waste batteries.
After ranking second last year, Gwangsan-gu took first place in this year's evaluation and received the Grand Prize.
The district operated a waste battery collection reward point system for residents and collected about 1.5 million waste batteries this year. In addition, a total of 272 resource circulation education sessions were conducted for more than 15,000 residents through outreach programs.
As a result, the total amount of waste batteries collected in the district reached 47.1 tons, an increase of more than 30% compared to 36.6 tons last year.
