According to Seosan City on the 18th, the city held a kickoff meeting for the "Chorok Square and Yecheon District Public Parking Lot Detailed Design Service" in the city hall's main conference room, presided over by Mayor Lee Wanseop.
The Chorok Square and Yecheon District public parking lot project involves utilizing the existing temporary parking lot site next to Jungang Lake Park to construct a multi-level parking structure, securing approximately 450 parking spaces, and creating a grass plaza on the rooftop that connects to Jungang Lake Park.
About 40 people, including heads of departments related to the project and representatives from the design service company, attended the meeting. Before the meeting began, some city council members and citizens also visited to listen to the service provider's explanation.
This kickoff meeting, which focused on creating a safe parking space by utilizing the difference in terrain elevation, providing a rest area for citizens, and revitalizing the surrounding commercial area, included detailed discussions on the direction of each field, such as the site plan, elevation plan, plaza plan, and facility development plan.
In-depth discussions were also held on key points of structure, materials, and design, including structural methods, waterproofing techniques, and various equipment plans.
The city plans to hold public information sessions and other events in the first half of next year, allowing citizens to participate freely and gathering diverse opinions from all walks of life as part of fulfilling the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's requirements for local financial investment review before commencing construction.
Mayor Lee Wanseop said, "To improve the living conditions of Seosan's 180,000 citizens through the expansion of Jungang Lake Park and the creation of innovative parking spaces, safe and eco-friendly facilities must come first," adding, "We will thoroughly review the project from the design stage to ensure that Chorok Square can be expanded in the future and proactively respond to various changes."
