Kim Kyung-il, Mayor of Paju, Holds Talks with Heo Gu-yeon, President of the Korea Baseball Organization

Kim Kyung-il, Mayor of Paju City, visited the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) on the 18th and had a meeting with Commissioner Heo Goo-yeon.

During this meeting, Paju City emphasized its excellent accessibility from various metropolitan areas, making it an ideal location for developing a sports and cultural complex centered around a baseball stadium. They also discussed with the KBO the expansion of professional baseball infrastructure through the construction of a dome stadium.

Paju City plans to establish a dedicated task force (TF) team for the dome stadium project through an organizational restructuring effective January 1, 2025, and will begin feasibility studies. This meeting was arranged as a step to open cooperation with the Korea Baseball Organization regarding the city's dome stadium initiative.

Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju City stated, “I expect this meeting with Commissioner Heo Goo-yeon to be the first step toward Paju becoming a sports and cultural complex city. With the establishment of a dedicated team through the organizational restructuring, we will carefully review and promote the project to ensure its practical implementation.”

Meanwhile, the inspection team led by Mayor Kim Kyung-il officially visited the small city of Kitahiroshima in Hokkaido, Japan, last October. They toured ‘Escon Field’ and ‘Sapporo Dome’ and conducted a study tour to explore the secrets and implications of innovative administration that created new growth engines for the city through sports and cultural complex development.
