Amid the passage of the impeachment motion against President Yoon Suk-yeol, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon voiced that "a fair and swift decision by the Constitutional Court is necessary for social and economic stability."
On the 14th, Mayor Oh stated through Facebook, "The urgent matter now is 'social and economic stability.'"
Earlier that day, the National Assembly plenary session approved the impeachment motion against President Yoon. The Constitutional Court received the impeachment resolution and began the formal trial process.
Regarding this, Mayor Oh said, "I sincerely apologize once again to the people with a heavy heart," and added, "The party should not be divided by this incident but come together and stand up again."
He then mentioned the various social and economic impacts of the political turmoil following President Yoon's declaration of martial law. He explained, "Over the past few days, I have listened carefully to those at the forefront of the domestic and international economy, and their requests were urgent," adding, "The government should minimize 'uncertainty' and create a 'predictable business environment.'"
He further stated, "Now is the time for national cooperation and a will to overcome the crisis beyond party lines, for the sake of the common people's economy and the future of the Republic of Korea," emphasizing again, "The standard for all decisions must always be the stability and prosperity of the Republic of Korea."
Previously, Mayor Oh had opposed President Yoon's impeachment but shifted to support it on the 12th via Facebook, stating, "(President Yoon) must face legal judgment through impeachment based on the facts revealed so far." At that time, he also stressed, "We must judge based on the future of the Republic of Korea beyond party interests because the stability and prosperity of the country are more important than the party's future."
