Public Statement from the Russian Embassy in Korea

Georgy Zinoviev, the Russian Ambassador to South Korea, stated on the 14th regarding the passage of the impeachment motion against President Yoon Suk-yeol in the National Assembly, "I hope that the dramatic events occurring in South Korea's domestic politics will ultimately not hinder the possibility of (bilateral relations) recovery but rather contribute to it."

According to the "Ambassador Zinoviev's Q&A with the Press" released on social media by the Russian Embassy in South Korea on the same day, Ambassador Zinoviev said, "Recently, we have unfortunately been witnessing a noticeable deterioration in bilateral relations."

Ambassador Zinoviev stated, "One could say that bilateral relations have approached a point of no return, which would be the decision to directly supply lethal weapons to the Kyiv regime," but added, "Fortunately, South Korea has not crossed this 'red line,' leaving room for the stabilization and potential future recovery of bilateral relations."

He also pointed out that President Yoon still has the Constitutional Court's impeachment trial ahead and "the president's authority has not yet been extinguished but is suspended and temporarily transferred to the Prime Minister."
