S-Oil Strengthens Compliance with Chemical Substance Regulations Using IT Systems

Chemical Substance Selection and Registration Procedures
Enhancing Work Accuracy and Efficiency

S-OIL announced on the 12th that it has established an in-house chemical substance management information technology (IT) system and has systematized its work processes through this system.

S-OIL is using this system to carry out the selection and registration procedures for chemical substances subject to registration as required by the Act on Registration and Evaluation of Chemicals (AREC) in South Korea. While reducing the possibility of unregistered chemical substances, the system also enhances accuracy and efficiency by enabling quick verification and change reporting through an automatic alarm function when the weight range of substances subject to registration is adjusted upward.

In addition to the manufacturing and import volume information required for registration under AREC, a database has been established to check regulations on all substances handled by the company. Based on this, S-OIL systematically complies with various chemical substance regulations, including AREC, and implements a safer and more reliable chemical substance management system.

So far, S-OIL has completed the registration of about 70 types of chemical substances using this system and is preparing for the potential increase in the volume of chemical substances handled due to the expansion of the petrochemical industry in the future.

A company official stated, "We will continue our technical and institutional efforts to practice sustainable management."
