The meeting, held at the Airport Railroad conference room at Seoul Station, was attended by about 40 representatives from more than 10 shipping companies, cargo owners, international freight forwarders, and port stevedoring companies using Daesan Port. They shared their respective plans to vitalize Daesan Port.
Cargo owners and shipping companies such as Hanwha TotalEnergies, LG Chem, and Lotte Chemical, as well as forwarders, shared the achievements they gained from using Daesan Port this year and discussed their future usage plans.
Afterwards, participants raised suggestions regarding difficulties and areas for improvement when using Daesan Daesan Port, and had time to discuss these issues.
During the discussions, attendees recognized the need to establish new container routes to China, Southeast Asia, and other regions to further activate Seosan Daesan Port, and agreed to continue cooperating towards this goal.
In addition, the organizations agreed to maintain ongoing communication regarding the expansion of services at Daesan Port and strategies for generating new cargo volume.
Seosan City and the Daesan Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries proposed the necessity of developing hinterland areas and improving transshipment yards to prevent cargo outflow to other regional ports due to insufficient infrastructure.
The participants agreed on the need to improve Seosan Daesan Port's infrastructure and decided to strive to ensure that these improvements are reflected as much as possible in the 4th Basic Port (Revised) Plan.
Meanwhile, Seosan Daesan Port currently operates a total of five regular container routes, and as of October this year, the container throughput has reached 66,285 TEU.
