Democratic Party: "Yoon's Statement Will Lead to Evidence Destruction... Investigation Agencies Must Make Urgent Arrests"

Chief Spokesperson Jo Seung-rae: "An Unstable and Dangerous Situation"

The Democratic Party of Korea stated on the 12th that the investigative agencies should make an emergency arrest in relation to President Yoon Seok-yeol's statement refusing to resign and asserting the legitimacy of 'martial law.'

Cho Seung-rae, the chief spokesperson for the Democratic Party, said at a meeting with reporters, "President Yoon is consistently telling blatant lies in front of the people despite committing the crime of rebellion. Lies will ultimately lead to evidence destruction," adding, "The investigative agencies must make an emergency arrest."

Regarding President Yoon's claim that martial law is not rebellion, Cho said, "Isn't it a situation where statements are pouring out clearly indicating that the Prime Minister, ministers, cabinet members, military commanders, and police commanders have committed the crime of rebellion?"

He added, "As Kim Min-seok, a Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party, described, 'Yoon Seok-yeol's mental state has been reconfirmed,' isn't the president's condition serious?" and "Until the impeachment is passed in the National Assembly, isn't this a very unstable and dangerous situation where we cannot predict what might happen?"

Regarding the timing of the impeachment proposal, he said, "Although some have raised the issue, there needs to be a process to refine the strictness, specificity, and accuracy of the impeachment proposal," adding, "We will discuss and make judgments accordingly."
