Institutions requiring user identity verification, such as financial institutions, can now easily and securely verify mobile IDs including mobile resident registration cards, driver’s licenses, national veterans registration cards, overseas Korean identity certificates, and foreigner registration cards using RaonSecure’s blockchain technology, as well as generate copies of ID images.

IT security and authentication platform company RaonSecure (CEO Soonhyung Lee, Jeonga Lee) announced on the 12th that it has launched ‘OmniOne VC Converter,’ a solution that quickly and securely verifies national mobile IDs through blockchain technology and generates copy images.

RaonSecure stated that it has signed supply contracts for the OmniOne VC Converter with multiple financial institutions. Banks, insurance companies, securities firms, and other financial institutions verify users’ identities with IDs when they use financial products such as opening bank accounts, and store copy image files of the IDs as evidence.

The OmniOne VC Converter is a solution that verifies the authenticity of mobile IDs and generates copy images when these processes are conducted using mobile IDs. For example, when a bank customer submits a mobile ID to open an account either face-to-face or remotely, the bank’s verification system uses blockchain nodes to confirm the authenticity of the mobile ID and can save a copy as an ID image file.

Although similar services based on Optical Character Recognition (OCR) that scan IDs and extract text exist, the VC Converter generates copies based on data, eliminating scanning errors and ensuring verification on the blockchain, which is difficult to forge or tamper with, thus providing reliability. Notably, RaonSecure is the manufacturer of the blockchain DID solution for the government’s mobile ID platform. Since RaonSecure directly operates and builds the mobile ID platform, it can provide the fastest technical support when additional types of national mobile IDs are introduced in the future.

Moreover, it supports verification and copy generation for government-issued mobile IDs such as the mobile resident registration card, which is scheduled for issuance around the end of December, as well as mobile driver’s licenses, mobile national veterans registration cards, mobile overseas Korean identity certificates, and mobile foreigner registration cards. It can also be updated free of charge when new mobile IDs are added in the future.

Based on its proven blockchain-based DID technology that built the national mobile ID platform, RaonSecure plans to introduce various linked solutions and services in the fields of identity verification and credentialing, creating diverse revenue models.

Jongmoon Park, Head of Service Business Division at RaonSecure, said, “With the blockchain-based issuance of mobile resident registration cards about to begin and the nationwide expansion of mobile IDs imminent, demand for authenticity verification and copy generation solutions optimized for blockchain mobile IDs will increase. We will continue to provide various innovations to industries and daily life by utilizing blockchain DID technology.”
