Busan Port Authority (BPA) announced on the 10th that the "Port Job Training Program," which supports job seeking for youth preparing for independence after leaving welfare facilities and fosters port industry workers, has achieved its first success.
Among the 14 youths preparing for independence who completed this job training program, one recently succeeded in finding employment in the related industry.
Since 2022, Busan Port Authority has been collaborating with the Korea Port Training Institute Incheon Training Center to operate a training course for youths who have left welfare facilities. The course provides licenses for operating small construction machinery such as small forklifts and excavators, which can be immediately utilized in port logistics sites. Upon completing the one-week theoretical and practical training, participants can obtain a small construction machinery operator license.
Busan Port Authority fully supports the costs related to the training and actively seeks job opportunities with domestic logistics companies for youths who have obtained the licenses, making vigorous efforts to facilitate employment.
Kang Jun-seok, President of Busan Port Authority, said, "Stable jobs are most important for the independence of youths who have left welfare facilities, so we prepared this training program, and our efforts have led to the first success. We will continue to expand the training program to help more youths achieve independence."
