Commissioner Jo Ji-ho of the National Police Agency abruptly canceled the regular press briefing scheduled for tomorrow.
The National Police Agency spokesperson's office stated on the 8th that "it is inappropriate for the Commissioner to attend the briefing as he is currently a suspect."
On the 6th, the police formed a special investigation team of about 120 members for the 'martial law' case, and decided to expand the team to about 150 by adding around 30 investigators, including the head of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's investigation division, officers from the Major Crimes Investigation Division and Crime Intelligence Division of the National Investigation Headquarters.
The police are conducting forensic analysis on the mobile phones of four individuals: Commissioner Jo, Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Commissioner Kim Bong-sik, National Assembly Security Chief Mok Hyun-tae, and Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency Commissioner Kim Jun-young, which were submitted voluntarily. They have also secured radio communication records of police officers from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency and Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency who were deployed to the National Assembly building and the Central Election Management Committee building on the day of the martial law to ascertain the details.
Woo Jong-su, head of the National Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency, is scheduled to hold a briefing on the martial law case at 10 a.m. on the 9th.
