Anguk Pharm announced that it will hold the exhibition "My Site Does Not Prohibit Outsiders' Entry" by artist Choi Yoon-ji as part of the AG Emerging Artist Continuous Encouragement Project Jujeonjagangseong (主專自强成) - Artist Power exhibition at AG Gallery until the 31st.
The AG Emerging Artist Continuous Encouragement Project, which provides various opportunities to selected artists along with an annual emerging artist contest, is sponsored by Anguk Pharm and hosted by the Anguk Cultural Foundation. The theme of this project, "Jujeonjagangseong," means the belief that strong growth is achieved through self-effort to develop expertise. It is structured to offer consulting based on active requests rather than passive support, through a program called "Artists Ask," aiming to provide professional help without undermining the artists' autonomy. The second exhibition in this continuous series is Choi Yoon-ji's "My Site Does Not Prohibit Outsiders' Entry."
Choi utilizes various media such as painting and sculptural installations to reinterpret the special environment of a "construction site" as an aesthetic device, interpreting the artist's site through the artist's perspective, emotions, and thoughts.
Choi stated, "I realized that painting construction sites was about wanting to create something from the complex and controlled sensations I received at architectural sites. So, I create my own site," adding, "I gather the inside and outside of construction, and the scenes of the site viewed from outside, painting the imagined inner world from outside. It is a fantasy-like site for those who have not actually been at the construction site."
