On the 3rd (local time), the U.S. government expressed relief over South Korea's lifting of martial law.
A spokesperson for the White House National Security Council (NSC) stated in response to Yonhap News Agency's inquiry about South Korea's lifting of martial law, "We are relieved that President Yoon Suk-yeol changed course regarding the concerning declaration of martial law and respected the South Korean National Assembly's vote to lift it."
The spokesperson added, "Democracy is the foundation of the South Korea-U.S. alliance," and "We will continue to closely monitor the situation."
