Samsung C&T Proposes 5 Parks in Hannam 4 District... 10,000 Pyeong Scale

Samsung C&T has proposed a large green space in Seoul Yongsan-gu Hannam 4 District, five times the size of the Seoul City Hall lawn plaza.

According to Samsung C&T's construction division on the 3rd, the company plans to create a large green space of approximately 10,000 pyeong divided into five blocks.

In collaboration with the global landscape design group 'SWA,' they presented an innovative design that leverages the locational advantage between Namsan and the Han River while overcoming the disadvantages of the sloped terrain. SWA is a U.S.-based landscape design group that has planned landscaping for various world landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and Disneyland in the U.S., and collaborates with global hotel brands like Hyatt and Ritz-Carlton.

To create a large-scale flat park, which is rare in Hannam New Town, Samsung C&T adjusted the arrangement and locations of residential buildings that could obstruct views. First, the block adjacent to the Han River was designed with the concept of a 'Water Garden,' featuring curved water facilities that draw water from the Han River to create a space that feels connected to the complex. A water playground themed on water lilies, the design motif of the circular tower, and an artistic garden with flowers that change with the seasons will be showcased.

The northern block near Namsan will feature a water veil and water garden utilizing height differences. It is designed so that the view of Namsan from the sky deck harmonizes with a pond below where falling water cascades. In the center of the block connecting Namsan and the Han River, a waterfall will recreate the foothills of Namsan, and a signature garden transplanting Raemian’s representative landscaping product, the 'Nature Gallery' garden, will be established.

The landscaping ratio within the complex is 45%, with green spaces of about 20,000 pyeong across the entire landscaping facilities.

Additionally, they proposed extra services such as a 10-year garden care service and free landscaping planting for units with specialized terraces like penthouses.

Kim Myung-seok, head of Samsung C&T’s housing business division, said, "We will demonstrate the differentiated value of Raemian landscaping, which shines with the most awards in Korea from the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA), the world's top award in the landscaping field," adding, "We will create an artistic space for residents’ healing and a refined lifestyle."
