Haman-gun Wins Special Award at the 2024 Korea Representative Fruit Contest

On the 3rd, the Haman County Office in Gyeongnam held an awards ceremony in the county governor's office for the winners of the '2024 Korea Representative Fruit Selection Contest.'

Hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and organized by the Korea Fruit Farmers Cooperative Federation, this contest, now in its 14th year, has been held annually since 2011 to select outstanding representative fruits of Korea, expand the consumption base of domestic fruits, and promote the establishment of production and consumption foundations competitive with imported fruits.

In Haman County, the Yu Ik-dol farm, which entered the persimmon category, and the Cha Young-don farm, which entered the grape category, were selected for special awards. Each winner received a certificate and a prize of 1 million won.

County Governor Jo Geun-je expressed gratitude for the good results achieved by fruit farmers despite difficult conditions such as low temperatures during the flowering period caused by abnormal weather this year, heavy rains, and heatwaves during the harvest season. He stated, "The county will actively support projects necessary for high-quality fruit production and disaster prevention."
