"Let's create a virtuous cycle that drives regional development with the mindset of 'If you do it, it can be done'." Governor Kim Young-rok of Jeonnam said this while reflecting on the provincial administration's achievements over the past year during the final regular assembly held on the morning of the 3rd in the Wangin Room at the provincial office.

Governor Kim recalled, "The large and small projects that have been difficult to push forward so far flash by like a revolving lantern, all demonstrating that 'if you do it, it can be done.' Public officials must think this way to realize the vision and achieve Jeonnam's historic great leap."

As the main achievements of this year's provincial administration, Governor Kim cited ▲the budget, which was around 7 trillion won at the time of the 7th elected term inauguration in 2018, has grown by an average of 14% annually, increasing to 12.9 trillion won this year ▲the rise of residents' income ranking from 17th-13th to 9th place ▲the agreement on the integration of National Mokpo University and National Suncheon University leading to the promotion of a national medical school within the integrated university ▲and initiatives such as the establishment of the nation's first Population Youth Immigration Center, promotion of 10,000 won housing, and basic birth allowance to overcome the crisis of local extinction.

He added that the Opportunity Development Special Zone, the national space launch vehicle industrial complex in Goheung, the bio national advanced strategic industry specialized complex, the corporate revitalization investment fund, and the offshore wind power generation complex are progressing smoothly, and that once the secondary battery national advanced strategic industrial complex is designated, Jeonnam will be able to respond greatly amid this historic major transformation.

Governor Kim emphasized his special efforts in fostering regional venture startups, including the promotion of Jeonnam as a special autonomous province, the MOU for the Goheung space launch vehicle national industrial complex, and attracting anchor companies for the Suncheon animation cluster.

Regarding the Nobel Prize in Literature awarded to author Han Kang, he said, "The national status has greatly risen," and added, "It shows that Jeonnam's history is alive. Let's work closely with Jangheung County, which is striving for literary fairs, literary museums, and Nobel literature cities, to nurture this field well."
