Gyeonggi-do to Screen Movie 'Geunyeoege' on March 3rd for Disability Day

On the 3rd, Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Welfare Foundation screened the film To Her at Dasan Hall in the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office to raise awareness about the importance of disability rights in observance of "International Day of Persons with Disabilities."

The film To Her tells the story of Sang-yeon, whose life completely changed after her child was diagnosed with Level 2 developmental disability, becoming a mother of a child with a disability. Inspired by writer Ryu Seung-yeon's essay I Decline, Called the Village Fool, the work contains experiences that only those who have lived through them can share.

Ko Young-in, Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province for Economic Affairs, stated, "The film To Her is not a simple narrative of overcoming disability but highlights a society where people with and without disabilities coexist. I hope it provides a new perspective on disability to the residents of Gyeonggi Province and serves as an opportunity to enhance disability sensitivity."

The Disability Empathy Week organized by the Gyeonggi Welfare Foundation includes events such as "An Ordinary Day of Gyeonggi Residents with Disabilities," discussing opportunities for income and Anywhere Care achievements as well as the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities; disability rights film screenings; a disability rights lecture titled "An Ordinary Day Discourse of Persons with Disabilities"; and a human rights forum hosted by the Gyeonggi Southern Disability Rights Advocacy Agency.

At the first-floor lobby of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office, an AI technology promotion booth to assist in improving accessibility for persons with disabilities will be open until the 4th. Additionally, until the 6th, there will be performances by disabled artists and an exhibition of 20 award-winning works from the 2024 Nurim Art & Work.
