AMCHAM's Healthcare Innovation Seminar was held without fail this year, marking its 15th anniversary. The event was attended by over 150 key stakeholders from the Korean and U.S. governments, the National Assembly, and industry. It received particular attention due to the participation of the Korea Patient Organization Federation. The seminar, themed 'Creating a Patient-Centered Healthcare Environment and Promoting Win-Win Cooperation to Enhance Patient Accessibility and Innovation,' shared practical measures and insights to improve patient accessibility and strengthen public-private cooperation, fostering in-depth discussions.
Park Jumin, Chair of the National Assembly’s Health and Welfare Committee, said in his congratulatory remarks, "K-Healthcare is a field that can generate significant synergy for the growth of the healthcare industries in both Korea and the U.S., and business partnerships must be strengthened for the development of both countries' industries." He added, "It is necessary to create a patient-centered clinical and treatment environment and to encourage the participation and active communication of healthcare consumers in the decision-making processes for treatment methods and therapies."
Cho Kyu-hong, Minister of Health and Welfare, emphasized in a written congratulatory message, "The purpose of healthcare is to protect and promote the lives and health of the people, and a patient-centered system is essential for this." He stated, "If a system is established where patients can directly participate and have their voices reflected, the development of new treatments, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices will greatly contribute to improving the health and quality of life of the people."
Philip Goldberg, U.S. Ambassador to Korea, also delivered congratulatory remarks, emphasizing the importance of cooperation between Korea and the U.S. "Continuous cooperation between Korea and the U.S. in healthcare and healthcare innovation will further strengthen the Korea-U.S. alliance," he said, adding, "I am confident that together we can solve today's challenges and achieve innovation for a healthier and more resilient future."
