Previously, only those who had obtained a national heritage repair technician or craftsman certificate and had more than 10 years of practical experience were eligible to apply for special university admissions. Going forward, applicants who have obtained a national heritage repair technician certificate with more than 3 years of practical experience, or a national heritage repair craftsman certificate with more than 5 years of practical experience, will be eligible to apply.

The scope of eligibility has also been expanded from university graduates (bachelor’s degree) to graduate school graduates (master’s or doctoral degrees). A special admissions track will also be newly established for intangible heritage holders, transmission educators, and those who have completed designated training.

The enforcement decree also includes provisions to assign faculty or staff dedicated to student selection tasks. By establishing the “World Heritage Sustainability Center” as an affiliated facility, the legal foundation for designating the “World Heritage Impact Assessment Support Center” has been strengthened.

A Cultural Heritage Administration official explained, “We aim to investigate, predict, and evaluate the impacts on the Outstanding Universal Value of World Heritage sites, and to devise measures to avoid, eliminate, or reduce negative effects on World Heritage.”
