Sparrow Receives Series of Year-End Awards Including Presidential Citation for Software Industry Development Contributions

Jang Ilsu, CEO of application security company Sparrow, received the Presidential Citation for contributions to the development of the software industry at the ‘25th Software Industry Day’ ceremony held on the 2nd. Following recent awards such as the Information Security Product Innovation Award, Sparrow has consecutively received the Presidential Award for Software Industry Development, being recognized as a leading application security company representing Korea.

The Software Industry Day ceremony, held at EL Tower in Yangjae, Seoul, is an annual event hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT to honor software industry professionals who have contributed to South Korea’s economic growth. This year, awards such as the ‘Software Industry Development Merit’ and the ‘Korea Software Awards’ were presented.

Sparrow is a domestic security software company that independently develops and provides application security testing technologies including Source Code Security Vulnerability Analysis (SAST), Software Composition Analysis (SCA), and Web Vulnerability Analysis (DAST). The company leads software supply chain security by participating in government projects such as the SW Security Vulnerability Diagnosis Project and the SW Supply Chain Security System Establishment Demonstration Project.

In recognition of his contributions to revitalizing the software industry, Sparrow CEO Jang Ilsu received the Presidential Citation for Software Industry Development Merit. He was highly praised for leading the domestic security software industry through independent technological self-reliance and contributing to software safety directly linked to national cybersecurity and the lives of citizens.

Earlier, on the 26th of last month, Sparrow’s source code security vulnerability analysis tool, Sparrow SAST, received the Minister of Science and ICT Award in the Information and Physical Security category at the ‘2024 Information Security Product Innovation Awards.’ The Information Security Product Innovation Awards recognize companies contributing to national and social interests in the information security field, and Sparrow was highly evaluated for excellence in development, reliability, and marketability.

Last month, in addition, Sparrow’s PM Shin Dongguk received the Ministerial Citation for Contributions to the Spread of Information Security Culture at the ‘14th Software Development Security Conference.’ Since 2022, Shin has participated in the ‘SME SW Security Vulnerability Diagnosis Project,’ a program supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency that provides source code diagnosis support to small and medium enterprises, earning recognition for strengthening private sector software security functions.

Sparrow CEO Jang Ilsu said, "Sparrow’s consecutive awards are the fruits of our efforts dedicated to software security," adding, "We will continue to provide innovative solutions that contribute to customers and the industry and persistently contribute to the development of Korea’s software industry."
