Seongsan Fire Station in Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, held a Heart Saver certificate awarding ceremony for firefighters who saved precious lives during the second half of this year.
Heart Saver is an honorable award given to paramedics and ordinary citizens who saved the lives of cardiac arrest patients through active emergency treatment using cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillators (AEDs). The term means ‘a person who saves the heart.’
At the ceremony held on the 2nd, the awardees were ▲ Fire Lieutenant Jo Young-jun ▲ Firefighters Kim Dae-il and Lee Jong-kyung ▲ and civilian Hwang Joo-won, totaling four recipients.
Kang Jong-tae, Chief of Seongsan Fire Station, said, “I sincerely congratulate and thank the firefighters and citizens of Changwon who received the Heart Saver award. I hope paramedics will continue to do their best to protect the precious lives and safety of citizens, and we will further strengthen nationwide CPR education to make CPR more widespread among the general public.”
