Resolving Resident Inconvenience Due to Limited Purchase Locations and Hours
Prices of 1,020 KRW and 2,040 KRW for 10ℓ and 20ℓ Capacities Respectively
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that starting from the 1st of this month, special-sized bags (matsae) will be sold at designated volume-based waste bag sales locations.
Previously, special-sized bags (matsae) could only be purchased during working hours at the local community service centers, causing complaints due to limited purchase times and locations. In particular, with the recent increase in single-person households and households with pet cats, demand for disposing of cat litter or small amounts of construction waste has risen, leading to frequent complaints from residents about inconvenience.
Accordingly, starting from December 1st, the district has expanded the purchase locations for special-sized bags (matsae) to include designated volume-based waste bag sales points in addition to the local community service centers to alleviate residents' inconvenience.
The special-sized bags are sold in 10ℓ and 20ℓ capacities at prices of 1,020 KRW and 2,040 KRW respectively. They can be used for disposing of household waste or small amounts of construction waste that are difficult to put in regular volume-based waste bags, such as cat litter, broken glass, and ceramics.
The list of sales locations can be found on the Geumcheon-gu Office website, which also provides a QR code service that allows real-time checking of stock status (quantity and date of stock) at the sales points.
Residents wishing to dispose of special-sized bags can apply for large waste collection through the Geumcheon-gu Office website or by calling their local community service center or the Cleaning Administration Division. Disposal is limited to no more than five special-sized bags at a time.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, “This expansion of sales locations is expected to enhance residents' convenience and contribute to efficient waste management. We will continue to do our best to resolve residents' inconveniences through system improvements.”
