'D-Virtual,' a real-time virtual housing visualization solution that allows users to apply various housing options in a virtual space, is a representative digital innovation technology first introduced by DL E&C in the industry. Developed in 2022, this solution realizes advanced graphic technology beyond three-dimensional virtual reality (VR). When this technology is applied to cyber model houses, consumers can simulate interior materials, finishes, and furniture options in a virtual space according to their preferences. The number of combinable housing options exceeds one million.

To develop D-Virtual, DL E&C digitized all finishing materials using 'Physically Based Rendering (PBR)' technology, which is used in film and game production. PBR technology realistically expresses the texture and surface of objects based on the physical laws of reality. DL E&C plans to build a 'digital twin' that implements real objects and systems in virtual space and utilize metaverse solutions at all stages, including not only sales but also construction and quality management.

DL E&C operates an in-house development team to accumulate capabilities. Research is underway in various fields, from graphics cards to PBR, to achieve high-quality real-time rendering. Since September 2022, DL E&C has been conducting joint research and development in the digital twin field with KT, with whom it formed a partnership.

‘D-Silence Service’ to Control Interfloor Noise, First Commercialization in Korea

DL E&C also developed Korea’s first interfloor noise alert service. This service automatically sends alerts to the wall pad when sensors installed in the living room and pantry walls of apartment units detect vibrations above a certain level. If floor vibrations causing noise exceeding the Ministry of Environment’s apartment interfloor noise standard (39 dB(A)) occur three or more times within 10 seconds, a 'Caution' alert is sent; if six or more times within 10 seconds, a 'Warning' alert is automatically triggered. It was first applied at 'e-Pyeonhansesang Yeoncheon Wellsheim.'

This service alleviates residents’ worries who were anxious about complaints from downstairs neighbors even when noise was below legal limits. Upstairs residents only need to be cautious when alerts sound due to interfloor noise above a certain level, while downstairs residents naturally escape the suffering caused by interfloor noise.

Since 2019, DL E&C has collaborated with experts in structure, acoustics, and information technology (IT) to research sensors for collecting interfloor noise data. As a result, they devised a wall-embedded vibration sensor capable of measuring floor vibrations. To enhance reliability, they analyzed the correlation between vibrations upstairs and noise downstairs and, leveraging construction expertise, derived designs and construction methods for optimal sensor placement.

Professor Lee Sang-hyun of Dankook University, an authority in building noise and vibration, explained, "The D-Silence Service is a technology developed through an innovative shift in thinking that moves beyond existing interfloor noise research focused on apartment floors. Based on accumulated data, it has established a foundation for upstairs and downstairs neighbors to agree on resolving interfloor noise, while also providing a clue to solving the concerns of upstairs residents who suffered from interfloor noise stress due to the lack of objective standards."
