This project involves constructing a total of 27.61 km of liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply pipelines and supply management stations in the Gongju City and Buyeo County areas of Chungnam Province. It will connect to the newly constructed Gongju natural gas power plant. The total project cost is 63.2 billion KRW, with Kumho Construction participating with an 80% stake. Construction will begin this month and is scheduled to be completed by July 2026, coinciding with the commissioning of the Gongju natural gas power plant.
Kumho Construction has been steadily building its track record in the plant sector. Earlier in January, it secured the Gongju natural gas power plant construction project worth 224.2 billion KRW, achieving approximately 300 billion KRW in orders in the plant business alone this year. In 2022, it won four projects including the Gumi natural gas power plant construction and natural gas supply facility construction projects worth a total of about 360 billion KRW.
It has shown particular strength in natural gas supply facility construction. It has successfully completed projects such as the 84.87 km main pipeline from Andong to Gunwi in Gyeongbuk Province, the 53.90 km main pipeline from Pohang to Yeongdeok in Gyeongbuk, the 36.49 km main pipeline from Haenam to Jangheung in Jeonnam, and the 20.41 km main pipeline from Goryeong to Hapcheon in Gyeongnam. To date, it holds a record of 10 projects ordered by Korea Gas Corporation for natural gas supply facility construction.
A Kumho Construction official stated, "Based on our know-how and excellent technical skills, we will successfully complete both the power plant construction and natural gas supply facility projects in Gongju," adding, "We will continue to actively participate in domestic and international projects to strengthen our competitiveness."
