Homeplus has renovated its Jeonju Hyoja branch this month and reopened it as Homeplus Mega Food Market.
In February 2022, Homeplus chose to transition to Homeplus Mega Food Market to achieve growth amid the offline retail industry's downturn. Through large-scale investments, it renewed major stores nationwide with a focus on food products. Homeplus plans to continue renovations based on analyses of location, commercial districts, and customer data of stores across the country, including Jeonju Hyoja branch.

Since Jeonju is a tourist city famous for its food, efforts were made to differentiate and display K-food that can captivate tourists. First, considering the high demand for barbecue at this store, a specialized zone called 'Butcher’s Select' was created, featuring 'Korean Pork YBD Golden Pork Belly and Neck Meat.'
In the Dining Street specialized zone, representative Korean street snacks such as tteokbokki, fried foods, and bungeoppang were expanded. At the 'Ramen Museum,' the spiciness level was indicated in 1 to 4 stages according to the Scoville scale (a measure of spiciness). The deli increased production facilities and sales space to offer various menus including the fried chicken brand ‘SotSot,’ the ‘Dangdang series,’ and ‘Gobaek Sushi.’
A beauty appliance experience store featuring dryers, electric toothbrushes, and electric shavers was also set up. Olive Young is also located inside, allowing customers to purchase a variety of beauty products. Additionally, to capture the demand of young tourists, a Daiso store of approximately 400 pyeong (about 1,322 square meters) is scheduled to open in January.
Yoo Hye-kyung, Executive Director of Homeplus Retail Experience Headquarters, said, "Jeonju Hyoja branch is a high-sales store both online and offline, with a continuously increasing number of customers ranging from domestic to foreign visitors, showing excellent growth potential as a Homeplus Mega Food Market." She added, "We will continue to analyze regional and customer data to meet customer needs and present a Homeplus Mega Food Market that offers greater enjoyment."
