원본보기 아이콘Jung Won-joo, Chairman of Daewoo Engineering & Construction, received the 'Mahatma Gandhi International Award' at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial in New Delhi, India, on the 20th (local time). This award is presented by the NRI Welfare Foundation, the largest private organization representing Indians living outside India, to globally distinguished individuals who have contributed to the promotion of understanding between India and overseas. Jung is the first Korean to receive this award.
A Daewoo E&C official stated, "Chairman Jung was recognized for his efforts to enhance economic cooperation and exchanges between Korea and India, leading to this award." The ceremony took place at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial in New Delhi, which is also the first place visited by world leaders and prominent figures when they come to India. The Gandhi Memorial is an organization supported by the government, chaired by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Chairman Jung is currently visiting India to attend the Korea-India Business Forum held in New Delhi on the 22nd (local time). He is visiting India with the executive board of the Korea Housing Construction Association, holding meetings with local developers and discussing the status of India's development project market and entry strategies. He supports the overseas expansion of domestic mid-sized construction companies.
