Pretending to buy something, he pulled out the weapon and threatened the convenience store employee, committing robbery. It was also reported that Mr. A left the store without paying for items worth about 15,000 won, including lunch boxes, cigarettes, and painkillers.
After gathering the items, Mr. A told the convenience store employee, "Report to the police in 10 minutes," then stood in front of the store waiting for the police. The police arrived at the scene within 4 minutes of the report and found Mr. A standing outside the convenience store. Upon seeing the patrol car, Mr. A took out the sickle from his waistband again.
The police officers also drew their tasers to respond to the weapon. The moment Mr. A saw the police taser, he immediately threw the sickle onto the ground. Then, he voluntarily extended both arms and cooperated with the police arrest. The sickle used in the crime was confiscated at the scene.
According to the police investigation, he had been homeless for several months and committed the crime believing that going to prison would free him from hunger. It was also found that Mr. A had stolen food and other items several times starting about a month before the crime.

Earlier, the police applied for an arrest warrant for Mr. A, and the prosecution requested it from the court, but it was dismissed based on the low risk of flight, so Mr. A is being investigated without detention.
Netizens who heard the story expressed various reactions such as, "Isn't the number of people like this increasing because prison life is comfortable? It should be so harsh that they never want to go back again to prevent reoffending," "The problem is that prison life is not hard but comfortable," "There are people who put on a show asking to be sent to jail," and "He could have just worked part-time."
