With the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) scheduled for the 14th, the Ministry of Education has provided guidelines for test-takers.
On the 5th, the Ministry of Education stated in a press release, "Test-takers must attend the preliminary gathering held the day before the exam to receive their admission ticket and be informed of various instructions and precautions." They emphasized that test-takers should verify their chosen subjects listed on the admission ticket and confirm the test site location in advance to avoid going to the wrong venue on exam day.
On the exam day, test-takers must bring their admission ticket and a valid photo ID to enter the designated exam room by 8:10 a.m. Acceptable IDs include ▲Resident Registration Card ▲Driver’s License ▲Passport displaying the resident registration number ▲Youth ID ▲Alien Registration Card ▲Receipt for Resident Registration Card or Youth ID issuance ▲Student ID with name, date of birth, and school principal’s seal. Mobile IDs are not accepted.
If a test-taker loses their admission ticket, they can visit the exam management office within the test site by 8 a.m. on exam day with one photo identical to the one attached to the application form and a valid ID to receive a reissued admission ticket. Even without a photo, a temporary admission ticket can be issued upon reporting to the exam management office.
All electronic devices, including mobile phones, smart devices (such as smartwatches), tablet PCs, earphones with communication (Bluetooth) functions, and electronic cigarettes, are prohibited from being brought into the exam site.
If electronic devices are brought into the exam site, they must be submitted to the proctor before the first period begins, following the proctor’s instructions, and will be returned after the exam ends. Failure to submit electronic devices and continuing to carry them will be treated as cheating, resulting in invalidation of the exam.
Regarding watches, only analog watches without payment or communication functions (such as Bluetooth) or electronic displays (LCD, LED, etc.) are allowed.
Items necessary for personal physical conditions or medical reasons, such as hearing aids, magnifying glasses, and continuous glucose monitors, may be carried after prior inspection by the proctor before each period.
If a test-taker does not take the Korean History section in the fourth period, the exam will be invalidated, and the entire score report will not be provided. Therefore, all test-takers must take the Korean History section in the fourth period.
For the following fourth period Social Studies and Science Inquiry sections, test-takers must take the subjects in the order they selected, and only the question booklet for the subject of that order should be placed on the desk while answering. The chosen subjects and their order for the fourth period can be confirmed on the admission ticket and the sticker attached to the top of the test-taker’s desk.
Particularly, test-takers who selected two subjects in the fourth period inquiry section must be careful not to modify or write answers for the first-choice subject after its time has ended during the second-choice subject time, as this will be treated as cheating and invalidate the exam.
Only the black computer-use marker pen distributed should be used to write on the answer sheet, and the handwriting verification phrase must also be written with the black computer-use marker pen. Using a mechanical pencil or pencil to write answers or double marking may result in disadvantages that the test-taker must bear, so caution is required.
When the end signal sounds, test-takers must immediately put down their writing instruments, place the answer sheet on the right and the question booklet on the left, lower their hands, and follow the proctor’s instructions.
In case of emergencies such as earthquakes during the exam, each test site will promptly take measures prioritizing the safety of test-takers according to pre-established protocols. Test-takers should remain calm and follow the instructions of the exam management office and proctors.
The Ministry of Education plans to produce and distribute videos and booklets to help test-takers easily understand and familiarize themselves with the key points of the test-taker guidelines. Local education offices will also conduct pre-exam education using various materials. Additionally, the CSAT website provides access to the test-taker guidelines booklet and videos for anyone to view.
