Icheon-si Hosts Drone Show to Support the Establishment of a Science High School

Gyeonggi-do Icheon City has expressed its determination to attract a science high school by launching it with drones.

On the 4th, Icheon City announced on the 5th that it held an opera performance and a drone show filled with hopes of attracting a science high school at Everyone's Square in front of the city hall.

Supported by the Army Intelligence School and the Icheon Cultural Foundation, the event featured a spectacular drone show including fireworks drones, smoke effect drones, and tactical drones, starting with a performance by the Icheon City Opera Troupe.

Kim Kyung-hee, mayor of Icheon City, said, "If a science high school is established in Icheon, many educational opportunities and benefits will be provided to local students," adding, "We will make every effort to attract the science high school to Icheon City to improve the educational environment in the eastern Gyeonggi region."

Meanwhile, the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education announced a plan for a new designation of 'Gyeonggi-type Science High School' last September and is currently accepting preliminary designation applications for the first stage. Icheon City has formed a consultative body with the city council and the Icheon Office of Education to attract the science high school. The city claims it is the optimal location for attracting a science high school, as semiconductor-related companies and research facilities such as SK Hynix headquarters and the Korea Ceramic Technology Institute are located there.
