Presidential Office Holds Security Situation Review Meeting Following North Korea's SRBM Launch

The Presidential Office announced on the 5th that it held a security situation review meeting chaired by the National Security Secretary to discuss countermeasures regarding North Korea's launch of short-range ballistic missiles (SRBMs).

According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the military detected several SRBMs launched from the Sariwon area in North Hwanghae Province toward the East Sea at around 7:30 a.m. that day.

It is interpreted that North Korea aimed to maximize its presence by carrying out ballistic missile provocations ahead of the U.S. presidential election.

The United States will sequentially begin the presidential election starting at 12:00 a.m. local time (2:00 p.m. Korean time on the 5th) in Dixville Notch, a small mountainous village in northern New Hampshire.
