The construction of the new public bus terminal was initiated after the old terminal, built in 1994, received a hazardous 'Grade E' rating in a detailed safety inspection in 2015. The city incorporated the reconstruction plan into the '3rd Yongin City Local Public Transportation Plan' in 2018 and began construction of the new terminal in August 2022.
The terminal is being built with one basement floor and two above-ground floors, covering a total floor area of 2,881.7㎡. Following this temporary operation, completion is scheduled for next month. The terminal was designed with a multi-level structure to create a comfortable indoor space, and features front glass windows and an external canopy to enhance connectivity with the outside.
With the start of temporary operations, the temporary terminal used since June last year has been demolished, and electric vehicle charging facilities for electric buses have been installed. The city also plans to operate a promotional center in the terminal's waiting area to introduce Yongin.
The city is promoting private consignment for efficient management and operation of the terminal. The consignment period is three years, and the trustee will be selected through a public recruitment process. Once the consignment company is selected, businesses to be housed in the commercial spaces will also be recruited.

After touring the rest areas and accommodations for bus transportation workers, Mayor Lee specifically ordered exploring ways to clearly separate the space prepared for female workers from the male accommodations.
Mayor Lee Sang-il said, "The newly renovated terminal will enhance citizens' transportation convenience and provide a more comfortable living space. The city will do its best to manage the terminal to ensure there are no inconveniences for users."
