"Changwon Was Hot" ... Changwon K-POP World Festival Final Competition 'Heated Up'

The final competition of the ‘2024 Changwon K-POP World Festival’ was held at Changwon Sports Complex, heating up the autumn night in Changwon.

Changwon City, Gyeongnam Special City, announced that the final competition held on the first day of the ‘2024 Changwon K-POP World Festival’ was successfully completed. Now in its 13th year, this festival is a Hallyu cultural event where K-pop lovers from around the world compete in performance and vocal skills.

On the afternoon of the 24th, eight teams representing countries including the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Spain, Singapore, Kazakhstan, and Myanmar, who advanced through global preliminaries from 64 regions in 63 countries, took the stage to showcase their dancing and singing skills. Over 3,000 K-pop fans from home and abroad filled the seats, applauding and cheering.

Additionally, K-pop boy group ‘Xikers’ and the multinational girl group ‘TripleS’ elevated the festival’s excitement with their congratulatory performances. The results of the final competition will be revealed on November 7 at 11:40 PM on KBS2TV.

Jo Myung-rae, the second vice mayor who attended as an award presenter, said, “K-POP has sparked a Korean language craze worldwide, proving its power to transcend cultural boundaries. It has now established itself as an important cultural icon that promotes South Korea globally beyond just a music genre. We feel great pride that our city of Changwon can contribute to spreading the charm of K-culture worldwide.”

Meanwhile, the ‘2024 Changwon K-POP World Festival’ is being held over two days for the first time this year. On the second day of the event, the 25th, from 6:10 PM at the same venue, KBS2TV’s representative music program ＜Music Bank＞ will be broadcast live as a Changwon special to over 145 countries worldwide.

All 26 overseas selected participants will appear on the broadcast to present collaboration stages with K-POP stars.
