A vehicle making a U-turn by crossing over the median curb on a dark highway was caught on camera, sparking outrage among netizens.

Recently, a post titled "Illegal U-turn Hyundai Grandeur at Seoosan Tollgate Exit" was uploaded on the online community BobaeDream. The video shows cars driving in both directions on the highway, while a black Hyundai Grandeur blocks one lane in each direction, positioned horizontally to make a U-turn. The vehicle climbed onto the median divider, waited until no cars were passing in the opposite lane, then slowly crossed over the curb and made the U-turn before disappearing. During the process of crossing the divider, which was as high as the lower cover of the car, an object appeared to have fallen off the rattling vehicle and was left in the middle of the highway.

A said, "The driver didn’t even use the turn signal, so imagine how startled the oncoming cars must have been," adding, "Thankfully, no accident occurred, but I was extremely shocked." He also said, "I wanted to report it, but I couldn’t see the license plate," and asked, "Has anyone else seen this? I want to report it."

Netizens who saw the video reacted with shock, commenting, "What did I just see?" "Could it be drunk driving? No sane person would risk damaging their car like that," "Thinking of making a U-turn in such a place is the worst kind of selfishness," "People like that should have their licenses revoked. How did they get away with this?" and "The repair costs will probably be higher than the toll fees."

Meanwhile, Article 62 of the Road Traffic Act states that drivers must not cross highways, make U-turns, or reverse on highways. Exceptions are only allowed for emergency vehicles or vehicles performing road maintenance or repair work to prevent or remove hazards on highways or to provide emergency response to traffic accidents. Violators are subject to fines of 40,000 KRW for passenger cars and 50,000 KRW for buses.
