Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will actively promote the ‘Home Medical Care Project’ to support the stable return and settlement of long-term hospitalized medical aid recipients to the local community.
‘Home Medical Care’ is a project that provides various services such as medical care, caregiving, meals, and transportation to medical aid recipients so that they can live comfortably at home after discharge.
The support targets medical aid recipients who have been hospitalized long-term but have a low medical necessity and are eligible for discharge.
Selected beneficiaries will receive ‘essential services’ including medical care, caregiving, meals, and transportation support according to individual needs, along with ‘optional services’ such as ▲housing environment improvement ▲cooling and heating equipment support ▲welfare devices and essential home appliances support. Optional services are provided within an average monthly limit of 716,500 KRW per person.
This service is provided from the time of discharge up to one year depending on the health condition of the beneficiary, and can be extended for one more year through beneficiary evaluation if necessary.
So far, the district has identified 3 beneficiaries among about 100 long-term hospitalized medical aid recipients in the area through a full survey. The district has established customized support plans according to their individual needs and has been providing services since August. In particular, due to the prolonged heatwave this year, the support of cooling and heating devices has enhanced the convenience and satisfaction of the beneficiaries.
Additionally, to help beneficiaries smoothly recover their daily lives, the district signed business agreements with a total of four local medical institutions and caregiving and meal service providers. ‘Yeongdeungpo Hospital,’ a medical cooperation institution, is responsible for monitoring the health status and medication guidance of home care beneficiaries, while other partner institutions provide caregiving services and lunchbox delivery necessary for daily life.
Beyond basic service provision, the district plans to increase satisfaction with home medical care by linking with other welfare services such as elderly customized care, disability activity support, and housekeeping and nursing care.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “I hope this project will help medical aid recipients maintain their daily lives stably,” and added, “We will continue to actively discover partner institutions and beneficiaries and provide various services.”
