President Lee Chang-yong to Depart on 20th for G20 Meeting and IMF Annual Meeting Attendance

Lee Chang-yong, Governor of the Bank of Korea, will depart on the 20th to attend the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting and the International Monetary Fund (IMF)-World Bank Group (WBG) Joint Annual Meetings held in Washington D.C., USA.

Governor Lee will participate in the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting to exchange views with finance ministers, central bank governors, and officials from international financial institutions of member countries on major financial market issues such as the global economic situation, global debt problems, and sustainable finance.

At the subsequent IMF Annual Meetings, he plans to review the global economic outlook, global financial stability, and discuss global policy challenges.

Additionally, during the meetings, Governor Lee will hold a dialogue on June 22 at the invitation of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) regarding "Korea's Monetary Policy and the Implications of the Global Value Chain (GVC)," and will meet with key figures in the international financial market and policymakers. The CFR is a nonprofit, nonpartisan research organization established in 1921 to enhance Americans' understanding of international relations and U.S. foreign policy.

On June 24, he will participate as a discussant at the Institute of International Finance (IIF) conference to discuss "The Outlook and Challenges of the Korean Economy."

Meanwhile, Lee Soo-hyung, a member of the Bank of Korea's Monetary Policy Committee, will meet with members of the U.S. Federal Reserve Board during the meetings to listen to their views on the direction of U.S. monetary policy and discuss the global financial and economic situation with female central bank governors and monetary policy committee members from advanced countries.

Governor Lee is scheduled to return to Korea on the 27th after completing his schedule.
