Global skincare brand COSRX recently announced the launch of its new product, ‘The Alpha-Arbutin 2 Discoloration Care Serum,’ which helps improve acne scars and hyperpigmentation, in the domestic market.

To celebrate the launch of ‘The Alpha-Arbutin 2 Discoloration Care Serum,’ Olive Young held a special launch event in early October, and a special promotion offering up to 38% discount is ongoing at the Naver Brand Store until the 23rd.

COSRX has been conducting research to address acne scars and various pigmentation issues, and this new product is a high-strength, high-efficacy discoloration serum that expands the scope of skin scar management beyond a simple brightening serum.

Recognizing that the biggest concern among skincare users and the global interest in brightening serums continue to grow, COSRX focused on ‘acne scars’ among the various causes of hyperpigmentation. In particular, understanding the needs of global consumers who prefer brightening serums that can be used universally without irritation, COSRX embarked on developing a ‘trouble scar serum’ that provides soothing effects, a refreshing texture, and effective action at every stage of pigmentation.

A COSRX representative stated, “Targeting Generation Z, we focused on pigmentation and acne scar issues. This product, developed to address the globally common problem of acne scars, is safe for sensitive skin and has a light texture. We also recommend its versatile use not only on the face with scars and dark spots but also on the body, elbows, and other areas.”

The new product, ‘The Alpha-Arbutin 2 Discoloration Care Serum,’ contains 2% alpha-arbutin along with six key ingredients that improve scars and pigmentation caused by troubles. This serum, effective in improving trouble scars, can care for pigmentation mechanisms from multiple angles through its six key ingredient formulation. In particular, the main ingredient alpha-arbutin inhibits melanin synthesis 15 times more powerfully than beta-arbutin, making it effective in improving pigmentation. Niacinamide suppresses melanin transfer, thereby reducing pigmentation, according to the brand.

Additionally, tranexamic acid improves hyperpigmentation, and acetyl glucosamine (NAG) inhibits melanin-producing enzymes and promotes keratin exfoliation. To accelerate the improvement of blotchy trouble scars, the serum contains ferulic acid and glutathione as synergistic ingredients, which interfere with melanin production and prevent dark spots.

Furthermore, it includes five types of hyaluronic acid, panthenol, tocopherol, allantoin, and madecassoside, which soothe and protect skin irritated and sensitized by troubles while providing moisture.

Released in a low-viscosity formula that absorbs quickly without stickiness and finishes refreshingly, it leaves only the necessary moisture on the skin and can be used comfortably regardless of skin type or season. The non-sticky formula is available in a large 50ML size, making it suitable not only for facial pigmentation concerns but also for body pigmentation issues such as on the elbows.

A brand representative emphasized the product’s efficacy, stating, “Clinical trials showed a 20.47% reduction in melanin on the skin surface after just four weeks, and a 22.31% improvement in old blemishes and scars.” They also explained, “The product passed suitability tests for acne-prone skin and skin irritation tests on sensitive skin, proving its safety.”

Meanwhile, COSRX continues to introduce derma lines based on sensitive skin and ingredients. By expanding the lineup of its research-based derma line ‘The RX,’ the brand is strengthening its competitiveness in the global derma market.
