Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 15th that it will hold the 'Namyangju Tap Dance Festa' performance at 3 p.m. on the 20th at Lee Seok-yeong Square (946 Gyeongchun-ro, Namyangju-si) to celebrate the Month of Culture in October.
The 'Namyangju Tap Dance Festa' was first introduced in 2021 after being selected as a Gyeonggi-do Culture Day public project and has been held annually since then.
In particular, the festival, which features the Seoul Tap Dance Ensemble's Festa performance hosted by the Mapo Cultural Foundation, has been continuously held in Namyangju as well, contributing to bridging the cultural gap in the northern Gyeonggi region and promoting regional cultural specialization.
The performance brings together tap dance groups from across the country led by Artistic Director Kim Gil-tae, the first generation of tap dancers in Korea, to present a non-verbal performance.
This year, over 30 tap dancers from 15 groups active nationwide will showcase clear and lively footwork, accompanied by two jugglers who will amaze the audience.
A city official stated, "This Tap Dance Festa will not only feature tap dance performances by the dancers but also include participatory segments with the audience, making it an even more enjoyable time," adding, "As autumn deepens, we hope families will enjoy the non-verbal performance together during the Month of Culture in October."
