The 3rd Hydrogen Day Held as the First Statutory Commemorative Day Designated This Year

The Korea Hydrogen Alliance (Chairman Kim Jae-hong) announced on the 15th that it will hold various events, including a commemorative ceremony, for three days from October 30 to November 1 at Sebitseom in Seoul to celebrate the '3rd Hydrogen Day,' which has been designated as the first legal commemorative day this year. Following the amendment of the Hydrogen Act on October 31 last year, Hydrogen Day was designated as a legal commemorative day starting this year. Hydrogen Day is set annually on November 2, symbolizing the chemical element symbol for hydrogen (H2).

Hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and co-organized by the Korea Hydrogen Alliance and H2 Summit, this event is divided into a preliminary event held from October 30 to 31 and the Hydrogen Day commemorative ceremony on November 1. The opening ceremony of the preliminary event on the 30th will be attended by about 300 people, including government officials, key national ambassadors, overseas organizations, companies, and related institutions.

The Global Forum, held as a preliminary event, is a seminar and discussion session inviting experts to discuss hydrogen policies by country and innovative technologies by value chain. It will share the achievements of hydrogen policies from countries such as Korea, the United States, Australia, and Chile, as well as global corporate hydrogen projects (Aramco, Emerson, etc.).

The H2 Summit Policy Seminar is a platform to effectively convey policy opinions from the industry, with about 300 participants from the hydrogen industry and member companies, including Hyundai Motor Company, SK E&S, and BP Korea.

The Clean Hydrogen International Forum is a venue for exchanging industry trends and domestic and international technical information, with about 300 participants from domestic hydrogen and ammonia industry stakeholders, including the Clean Ammonia Council.

The Hydrogen Specialized Companies Development Forum aims to promote the importance of the hydrogen specialized company system and activate exchanges among the government, local governments, and specialized companies. It will proceed with signing business agreements for fostering hydrogen specialized companies and presentations of best practices by hydrogen specialized companies.

The Korea-US Business Exchange Meeting is a place to create commercialization opportunities through networking and information sharing between Korean companies and hydrogen hub companies in Texas, USA, with many hydrogen-related businesspeople from both countries expected to attend.

Additionally, more than 10 discussion and exchange events, including the Global Hydrogen Industry Discussion, Hydrogen Technology International Standards Forum, and Business Meetings, will be held.

Moreover, hydrogen company exhibition booths will be set up to review the industrial status and technological achievements by hydrogen ecosystem. Exhibits will include Hyundai Motor Company's hydrogen vehicles, SK E&S's liquefied hydrogen plant, Lotte Chemical's hydrogen storage containers, Hyosung Heavy Industries' hydrogen charging systems, and Hylium Industries' hydrogen drones.

The 3rd Hydrogen Day commemorative ceremony, held on November 1, will be attended by key government officials, companies, and related organizations. The ceremony will include awards for meritorious persons, the announcement of winners of the 'Understanding the Hydrogen Economy' contest, and the signing of memorandums of understanding (MOUs) among the five dedicated hydrogen industry institutions (Korea Gas Corporation, Korea Gas Safety Corporation, Petroleum Management Service, Korea Energy Technology Evaluation Institute, and Korea Hydrogen Alliance).

Kim Jae-hong, Chairman of the Korea Hydrogen Alliance, said, "Above all, it is very meaningful to hold the 'Hydrogen Day' event to mark the first legal commemorative day implemented this year." He added, "This year, we prepared the event mainly with forums, seminars, and exchange meetings as preliminary events, but starting next year, we will link it with a large-scale exhibition that shows the practical achievements of the hydrogen industry and develop it into a genuine mega platform leading the global hydrogen economy."
