Gwangju City announced on the 15th that it will conduct a joint public-private inspection involving citizens from the 21st to the 23rd, targeting about 50 facilities that emit environmental pollutants.
This joint inspection was organized to prevent environmental pollution and to enhance the transparency and reliability of guidance and inspections. Inspection teams composed of environmental experts, citizens, and officials from Gwangju City and district offices will carry out the inspections at the facilities.
The main inspection items include ▲ installation and operation of unauthorized (unreported) emission facilities ▲ proper management of emission and prevention facilities ▲ appropriate implementation of periodic self-measurements ▲ compliance with emission standards, focusing on the management status of pollutants generated from air and wastewater emission facilities at the sites. Violating facilities will be subject to administrative measures according to relevant laws, and these measures will be disclosed. Additionally, technical support will be provided to places lacking environmental management technology.
Kim Osuk, Director of the Environmental Conservation Division of Gwangju City, stated, “We will continuously conduct joint public-private inspections involving citizens to establish an environmental pollution monitoring system that citizens can trust and feel secure about.”
