The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Cheon Chang-su) has reached an agreement with the Local Government Employees' Labor Union Coalition on 12 agenda items, including the simplification of school administrative tasks and the improvement of local government employees' working conditions.
The main points of agreement include the revision of standards for non-consumable goods, improvement of the management method for school accounting paper passbooks, unified payment of school safety mutual aid association fees by the education office, and simplification of materials submitted during regular comprehensive audits.
They also improved working conditions and welfare levels for local government employees by enhancing long-term service leave, annual leave compensation, and customized welfare systems.
On the 15th, the Ulsan Office of Education held the "2024 Labor-Management Council Signing Ceremony" in the Sympathy Conference Room of the city education office, with Superintendent Cheon Chang-su and representatives from the Local Government Employees' Labor Union Coalition participating.
The Local Government Employees' Labor Union Coalition consists of the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education Employees' Labor Union, the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education General Staff Employees' Labor Union, the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education Technical Staff Employees' Labor Union, and the National Government Employees' Labor Union Ulsan Education Office Branch.
Starting with a preliminary consultation on July 15, both sides reviewed agenda items by department and held three working-level meetings, reaching an agreement on 12 out of 21 requested agenda items.
Through this labor-management council, the Ulsan Office of Education plans to support the simplification of school administrative tasks and improve work efficiency to foster a balanced workplace culture.
The labor-management council is held twice a year, in the first and second halves, according to the collective agreement with the Local Government Employees' Labor Union Coalition.
Superintendent Cheon Chang-su stated, "We will strive to improve the quality of life for staff by reducing their workload and improving their treatment, and build a sound labor-management relationship based on mutual trust, communication, and cooperation."
The Ulsan Office of Education practices sharing with the local community through various seasonal volunteer activities every year and is establishing a model labor-management culture based on communication and harmony between labor and management.
