The Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency announced that during the 22nd National Assembly election, it cracked down on 40 election law violation cases involving 66 individuals, and referred 34 of them for prosecution.

This represents an increase of two times and 3.7 times, respectively, compared to the 13 cases and 14 individuals during the 21st election.

By type of violation, the breakdown was as follows: spreading false information 10 people (15.2%), bribery 7 people (10.6%), preliminary election campaigning 7 people (10.6%), and damage to banners or posters 6 people (9.1%).

Compared to the 21st National Assembly election, the number of cases of spreading false information increased from 2 to 10, bribery from 0 to 7, and preliminary election campaigning from 1 to 7.

An official from the Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency stated, "Considering that the statute of limitations for election-related offenses is short at six months, we conducted swift and strict investigations and concluded all cases before the expiration of the statute of limitations," adding, "We will continue to thoroughly investigate election crimes according to legal procedures, regardless of whether the suspect is elected or not, to ensure the establishment of a clean and fair election culture."
