Goyang City Library Hosts Book Curation to Celebrate 'Han Kang's Nobel Literature Prize' Award

Exhibition of Han River Author's Early Works and Major Award-Winning Pieces

Goyang Special City Library Center is holding a book curation event to commemorate author Han Kang's Nobel Prize in Literature award.

The Goyang Special City Library Center in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 15th that it will hold a book curation event until November 30th to commemorate the Nobel Prize in Literature awarded to Han Kang, the first Asian woman and the first Korean author to receive this honor.

The Library Center plans to exhibit a variety of works ranging from Han Kang's early works such as The Vegetarian, Human Acts, Boyhood, and Love in Yeosu to her major award-winning pieces, allowing citizens to gain a deeper understanding of Han Kang's literary world.

At libraries in Goyang City, including Hwajeong Library, there has been a surge of citizens borrowing Han Kang's books, causing the available copies to quickly run out, demonstrating the strong Han Kang fever.

Kim Mi-jung, Director of the Library Center, said, “This book curation was planned to commemorate the first Korean author to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. We hope that the citizens of Goyang will celebrate this great achievement in the history of Korean literature together, and that this award will continue to inspire public interest in books and libraries.”
