Police Commissioner Jo Ji-ho stated on the 11th that he "does not agree" with the criticism that the police's prestige has fallen under the Yoon Suk-yeol administration and that investigative favors are being granted to those in power.
Commissioner Jo made this remark in response to a question from Rep. Chae Hyun-il of the Democratic Party of Korea during the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee audit on the same day.
Rep. Chae criticized, "There are 14 cases filed against Kim Geon-hee, the wife of President Yoon Suk-yeol, including those related to Deutsche Motors and luxury bags. All investigative agencies give a free pass without any questioning or investigation," adding, "It is not that there is no guilt, but that proper investigations were not conducted."
When asked whether he is upholding his inauguration pledge to confront illegality without yielding, Commissioner Jo replied, "I am upholding it."
