Msgr. Jung Eun-kyu has continued the legacy of his late father, Jung Haeng-don, an independence activist and educator, by awarding scholarships annually to local students and descendants of independence activists. From 2005 to 2013, a total of 445 students received the Simon Scholarship.

Additionally, since last year, he has provided an extra 2 billion KRW in scholarship funds, enabling 55 students to receive scholarships each year.

Msgr. Jung Eun-kyu established the 'Jung Haeng-don Education Award' and the 'Jung Jae-moon Social Welfare Award' in 2011 to encourage exemplary teachers and contributors to social welfare. In recognition of his contributions to the advancement of national education, he was awarded the Moran Medal of the Order of Civil Merit in 2013.

President Sung Han-gi of Daegu Catholic University said, "I hope students will carry on the noble intentions of the patriot Jung Haeng-don and Msgr. Jung Eun-kyu, devote themselves to their studies, and grow into talented individuals who will lead future society."

To honor the will of Jung Haeng-don, his descendants Msgr. Jung Eun-kyu, Jung Shin-kyu, Jung Oh-kyu, and Jung Wan-kyu have established the 'Patriot Jung Haeng-don Scholarship.' Since 2019, they have selected at least 50 students each year, awarding 1 million KRW per recipient.
