Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced on the 10th that it has installed and supported one automated external defibrillator (AED) at the management office of Goeup Reservoir Public Parking Lot to enable prompt response in emergencies such as cardiac arrest.

The city explained that the 'Goeup Reservoir Public Parking Lot' was selected as the target for AED installation support because it is a facility with good public accessibility, used by approximately 390,000 vehicles and 30,000 people annually, and staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, allowing immediate response in case of emergencies.

An 'automated external defibrillator' is emergency equipment necessary for appropriate and rapid response in emergencies requiring cardiopulmonary resuscitation, such as acute cardiac arrest patients.

Currently, the city has installed 272 units across 184 locations, including mandatory institutions and multi-use facilities, and conducts monthly self-inspections by the institutions and an annual inspection by the public health center.

A city official stated, “We will continue to promote the AED support project to protect the precious lives and health of citizens in emergencies such as cardiac arrest.”
