Gwangju City to Host Mudeungsan Geomarathon on the 13th

Gwangju City announced on the 10th that, together with Jeollanam-do, Damyang-gun, and Hwasun-gun, it will hold the "3rd Mudeungsan UNESCO Global Geopark Marathon" on the 13th in the areas of Hwasun-gun and Damyang-gun to commemorate the 6th anniversary of the Mudeungsan UNESCO Global Geopark certification.

This race, with 1,187 marathoners participating nationwide, will start at 7:40 AM on the 13th from the public parking lot in front of Kumho Hwasun Resort, pass through Suri 1-gyo in Baek-a-myeon, Hwasun-gun, turn back at Inaam Samgeori in Gasamunhak-myeon, Damyang-gun, and return to Kumho Hwasun Resort.

The marathon will be broadcast live on YouTube, and the live broadcast will include stories about farmers cultivating geo-food. Additionally, local foods such as Hwasun rice, Damyang Hangwa, and Jeonnam Nonghyup eco-friendly rice will be introduced.

Ko Gwang-wan, Deputy Mayor of Gwangju City, said, "This event will be a unique marathon that promotes the beautiful scenery of Mudeungsan along with the Mudeungsan UNESCO Global Geopark," and added, "We hope the marathon participants complete the race healthily and safely."
