Geumcheon-gu to Host the 28th Senior Citizens' Day Harmony Festival on the 8th
18 People Including Model Seniors and Contributors to Senior Welfare Awarded

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it held the '28th Senior Citizens' Day Commemoration' event at Geumcheon Sports Park at 10:30 a.m. on the 8th.


This event was organized by the Geumcheon Branch of the Korea Senior Citizens Association (President Park Se-gu) to celebrate Senior Citizens' Day on October 2, under the theme of 'Harmony of Communication and Integration.'


About 800 seniors, including members of senior centers and contributors to senior welfare, attended the event.


In the morning, after congratulatory performances and the commemorative ceremony, an award ceremony was held to present the mayor's commendations. Seven exemplary seniors and eleven contributors to senior welfare were selected as awardees, recognized for their contributions to the promotion of senior welfare and their positive impact on society.

In the afternoon sports competition, seniors representing 74 senior centers participated, competing passionately in games such as gateball and hangung, vying for the honor of their respective centers.


Park Se-gu, President of the Geumcheon Branch of the Korea Senior Citizens Association, said in his commemorative speech, "I hope this Harmony Festival will serve as an opportunity to contribute to a society where seniors are respected and happy."


Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said in his congratulatory address, "I extend my gratitude and respect to the awardees and the event organizers. We will do our best to improve senior welfare by expanding senior job opportunities, increasing senior leisure facilities, and revitalizing senior centers so that seniors can enjoy a joyful and healthy old age."
