Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province (Governor Seo Tae-won) announced on the 4th that it successfully completed the "Rural Home-Visit Medical Bus Project," a mobile medical service, on the 2nd with great response from residents.

The "Rural Home-Visit Medical Bus," jointly hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Gapyeong-gun, and the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, and organized by Gapyeong-gun Nonghyup, is a project that provides medical services such as Western and Korean medicine consultations, ophthalmology, and dental examinations by visiting rural areas with limited medical facilities.

The Rural Home-Visit Medical Bus is a project open for applications by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Gapyeong-gun applied for this project this year to support residents in areas with weak medical infrastructure and was selected. The project was funded with 40% from the national government, 30% from the county, and 30% from Nonghyup.

At the event held at Gapyeong Gymnasium, about 200 residents in need of medical support, including elderly people aged 60 and over, vulnerable groups, and farmers living in Gapyeong-eup and Buk-myeon areas, participated. Additionally, 20 medical staff and volunteers from Seoul Gangbuk Himchan Hospital, IOBio, and The Story Optical Clinic took part in providing Western medical care, oral examinations, and eye examinations.

The medical staff from Gangbuk Himchan Hospital supported the elderly with basic tests such as blood pressure checks, orthopedic consultations for spine and joints, and health counseling. IOBio conducted oral examinations and education, while opticians from The Story Optical Clinic performed vision tests and provided magnifying glasses to those in need.

An elderly participant from Buk-myeon who took part in the home-visit medical bus said, "Although I often suffered from severe back pain, I endured it because there were no specialized hospitals nearby. Today, I was very pleased to receive a consultation from professional medical staff."

Governor Seo Tae-won stated, "Gapyeong-gun has a high elderly population ratio of 31% aged 65 and over, but medical infrastructure is insufficient, so projects like the Rural Home-Visit Medical Bus are necessary. We will strive to gradually expand this project to all areas of the county to make Gapyeong-gun healthier and a better place to live."
