Recently, the number of occupational accident claims submitted to Sahakyeongeum has been increasing annually, and due to the occurrence of various accident cases, there is a growing need to assess the proof of accidents involving teaching staff more objectively and accurately during the review of submitted cases. Against this backdrop, the Investigation Team was formed to strengthen on-site support.
The Investigation Team was established to address the limitations of conducting document reviews related to accident compensation solely through telephone consultations. Team members were recruited and appointed in September to clearly verify injuries or illnesses occurring during the performance of duties by teaching staff and to directly hear various circumstances from managers or supervisors of the affiliated institutions.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Investigation Team members, the Head of the Pension Business Headquarters, the Director of the Welfare Business Office, the Head of the Accident Compensation Team, and team members. Along with the presentation of appointment certificates to the Investigation Team members, impressions of their selection and guidance on the team's roles and activity plans were provided.
The appointed Investigation Team members are retired teaching staff from Sahakyeongeum with extensive experience and expertise in healthcare and educational administration fields. They will be active mainly in the Seoul and Gyeongin regions for two months starting in October. Based on the operational achievements of the Investigation Team, Sahakyeongeum plans to expand recruitment of team members by city and province in 2025 to further strengthen on-site reviews of accident compensation.
Chairman Song Hajung stated, "As we have appointed the Occupational Accident Fact Investigation Team to support the proof of accidents involving teaching staff, we have created an opportunity to enhance the accurate review of work-related accidents and illnesses by directly listening to the voices of accident clients and verifying the facts of accident circumstances." He added, "The number of teaching staff suffering from injuries and illnesses occurring during work is increasing every year, and the circumstances of accidents are becoming more diverse. Therefore, Sahakyeongeum will contribute more actively to stabilizing the lives and realizing the welfare of teaching staff."
